"The Last Orchid Farm in Cuba," written by Cristina Garcia, and directed by Drama League Alumni Adrian Alea. is inspired by Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard. This play is part of a trilogy that pulls from the elements of Chekhov's plays and places them through the history of Castro's revolution in Cuba.
This reading presentation is a result of the work within the weeks course of the (RE)ENGAGE Residency.
The (Re)Engage Directing Residency is designed for mid-career Alumni of The Drama League Directors Project’s Fellowships, Residencies, Assistantships or Exchanges. In a week-long residency, the recipient and up to three collaborating artists can utilize the Hubbard Hall theatre, rehearsal spaces, and campus to develop their project. There is also an opportunity for a Community Sharing at Hubbard Hall, at the conclusion of the experience.
The Drama League Directing Residencies support the interrogative process of a director creating work that includes live performance. The residencies offer financial support, rehearsal and creative space, mentorship from the artistic staff of the partner companies, and the opportunity to share the findings of the process publicly.
