This modern reimagining of the Orpheus myth tells the story of Eurydice, a young woman caught between the worlds of love, memory, and loss. On her wedding day, a tragic accident sends her spiraling into the underworld, where she is reunited with her father and confronted with a strange, dreamlike landscape filled with stones that speak, an elevator that rains, and the impossible pull between past and future.
Through striking imagery and poetic language, Ruhl explores how we remember, how we grieve, and how we choose between holding on and letting go. While Orpheus attempts to rescue her with his music, Eurydice must decide for herself where she belongs—caught between the love she shares with her husband and the bond she cannot release with her father.
Tender, funny, and heartbreaking, Eurydice is a moving meditation on love, language, and the ways we keep our dead alive within us.
