NYC-based playwright, performer, and Juilliard graduate in playwriting, La DANIELLA will spend a week at Hubbard Hall developing her new piece, Gooey's Toxic Aquatic Adventure, which is slated to be produced at the Bushwick Starr in Brooklyn in 2025. Come one, come all to Gooey’s Toxic Aquatic Adventure and join Gooey Pudín, New York’s trashiest mermaid on a tour of her hopes, dreams and favorite haunts along the Gowanus Canal, where you’ll meet Scabby da Rat, Sludge da cesspool, “Miss G”, Jackie Castelucci and da boss: Alfredo “Fred Bosco” Boscocello.
La DANIELLA (she/her) is a performer, playwright, story consultant and model falling back in love with herself. A proud 2nd generation resident of Bushwick, Brooklyn, where her family has lived for 60 years, her work sits at the intersections of New York City’s history, Latine-Caribbean history, environmentalism, generational trauma, healing, science fiction, surrealism/absurdism and centers queer Black/Latine women and femmes. As an actress, she is best known for her role as Zirconia on Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, for which she shares a nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series by the Screen Actors Guild Awards. As a playwright, her work has been supported by The Public Theater, Bushwick Starr, New York Theater Workshop, The New Group, Barrington Stage Company and San Diego Repertory Theater.
